okay here we go i got a linksys router and zonealarm firewall i have ort forwarded 113 6660-7000 4000-4010 can turn off firewall and still cant get the ~ from my nick i identify on most servers and an ddc chat with the best but i still dont connect to everyone because of the ~ whats up with this is it because of comcast or my settings ive been through my winxp everything and am just plain frustrated ive even checked my local host and ip against dns and it will show the same ip and local

i have a linksys router, and KPF. i have the same problem. also cannot send DCCs, but can receve them

well i can sent most but some people are like blocked because of the tidle~

do you mind giving me a rundown of what your settings are, so i can try and fix my dcc sends?

the tilde is there because the server did not (for whatever reason) get what it wanted for an ident response from you. try enabling the ident server (Options > Connect > Identd), and use the same ident you used before the @ in the email field on the login dialog window.

some isps block ident requests, altho i have no idea if comcast is one of them. you can call and ask them (assuming they will give you a straight answer) or check on www.practicallynetworked.com or http://www.dslreports.com/forums/all to see what info they have on comcast.

whether you use DALnet or not, they have some good info about ident probs at http://kline.dal.net/exploits/ident.htm and the links there. the link to windows ident also has links to standalone ident software if needed
