That's a problem on your end, and not mIRC. a variable is limited to 495 characters for name and value both (give or take). I cannot for the life of me imagine why you would need a variable with more space than those 495. You should fix your programming.

Where did you get 495 from? The maximum line length is approximately 950 characters, so in practice a variable can have a maximum length of about 940 characters depending on the length of the variable name.

joho: If you find the line length limitation to be a problem you should look into splitting the text across several variables or using a binary variable (for temporary storage/manipulation) or a binary hash table item (for more permanent storage).

Number was floating in my head. Now that you mention - the 940 something sounds familiar too. Perhaps it's that one. It doesn't change the message in my answer though. There's no need to have variables that long.
