Just as a suggestion... I'm pretty sure that many, just as I do, check this forum many times a day... useful as the red number indicating new posts in one thread may be, I'm always looking for new posts ("knowledge is power", you know wink...), but posts like these:

Post 1. Thank you so much for you're help
Post 2: You're welcome. If you need any help, just use this forum
Post 3: I will
Post 4: Glad to hear that
Post 5: Sure
Post 6: Hehe

... make this forum look more like a lagged chat window rather than a help forum... all thanks, greetings and such replies could be sent through pm's.
Just a humble opinion grin

Edit: There could also be a sticky post under the title of "write here if you want to thank any of the helpers" wink

In peace and good thoughts,
/me

Agreed.

I semi-agree wink

Post 1. People may be thanking several helpers for their efforts, in which case PMing them all may not be practical. They may also not know about the PM feature.

Post 2. I think it's a nice gesture and gives a much nicer feel to the board. When you're helping in quite a number of threads it's not always practical to PM everyone.

I can see completely where you're coming from though, and I probably am one of the worst culprits for posting "You're welcome" posts lol - I'll cut down on that *g* smile

Happy helpin'!

Regards,

Here's what I think about this:

Everybody is thankful if you help him, why do they need to say "Thank you"...
I know that if I help somebody he will say "thank you" in his head or maybe in his prayers.
I don't expect from anybody to post it here... but also, I don't mind...

But, again, that's my opinion. smirk

Sadly, it's amazing how many people are actually not thankful. Too often do people think that we're somehow paid for this or given physical rewards, and take our help for granted.

I like to receive a thank you and confirmation that what I've said has helped the user, it gives you that nice feeling smile

My 2 cents.

Is there a way to make my avatar not to be streched on 80x80, but 80x40 example...
It is much much better in its original size.

Thanx!

Not exactly the most appropriate thread to post this in, however, to the best of my knowledge, if you submit an avatar that is 80x40 then it will appear that size. The Forum doesn't automatically make all avatars 80x80, that is just the maximum height/width.

If you have questions, comments, suggestions, bug reports, requests etc etc related to the website or the Forum, it's best to contact Krejt.

Simply make it 80x80 by adding 20 pixels of transparency on each side.

Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and stupid comments are intentional.

There is nothing wrong with acknowledging the appreciation shown here from time to time so I disagree with you. Secondly, I haven't read the other replies in detail so if it's been mentioned forgive me, but I'd like to remind you that some people, such as myself, for instance, do not accept private messages so what you suggest isn't always possible.

It's called good manners.

Besides which, have you any idea how depressing it is when you help someone and they just take it for granted and don't even acknowledge that your help has, in fact, been helpful?

And the caveat - everyone likes to be appreciated, especially unpaid volunteers and enthusiasts.

I'm too old and cynical to believe that, unfortunately - there's a lot of people out there who assume that they have a RIGHT to be helped, however rude or obnoxious they are.

Also just my opinion.

I don't mind people thanking someone if they "prayers" have been (as usual in this forum wink) successfully heard and answered... however, my original post was meant to talk (or should I say write-n-read?) about the endless replies that come after a well-deserved "thank you" note .
Anyway, thanks for understanding...

In peace and good thoughts,

i think its basic courtesy to thank someone for helping you, and if someone wants to take the time to say thank you, i dont see anything pointless in their appreciation or in replying to them. When they take the time to say thank you, it also lets us and anyone reading the thread know the suggestion(s) did in fact resolve their problem.

Considering how often helpers everywhere aren't shown the slightest bit of appreciation and in fact get a lot of rudeness/abuse for their efforts, it brings a smile to my face when anyone says something nice to someone who helped them.
