Every time I try to log onto #marketplace from server novernet, my nick gets changed from my normal nick to guestxxxxxxxx, then after a few minutes I get disconnected because guests are not allowed. How do I get around this?

I expect it's because the nick you're using is already registered to somebody else. Can't think why you would get disconnected though? Choose a nick that isn't registered, then type /nickserv register <password> <email address>. For more information, type /nickserv help register smile

Never compare yourself to others - they're more screwed up than you think.

If you try to use a nick that belongs to someone else who has protection on their nick, or that user uses the recover command on you: "When you give this command, NickServ will bring a fake user online with the same nickname as the user you're trying to recover your nick from. This causes the IRC servers to disconnect the other user." That is from this novernet web page

When you have a network specific question, its always best to go look at their website for info.

Thank you very much. My problem was that I was not using NickServ correctly. How do you find the web pages of servers?

Usually, though in rare cases not always, the website would be the same as the server name. Just change irc or chat to www
