How do I find a user's nickname on the IRC server if I only know his IP and Hostname?

I used to be able to do this, but forgot how to do it, maybe it was a script that allow me to do this, maybe ircN script?

I think it was /match *!*@*.user1.seeme.com, but the match command isn't recognize by plain mIRC, and I haven't tried ircN as I don't use it anymore.

TIA - Tekkanano

Since most users are set invisible (meaning ppl have to know your nickname to find you, and you arent seen by those outside of the channel using commands like /who or /names) its unlikely you will meet with success. Try /who +h ip

There are some code snippets over at mircscripts.org that check the channels that you are on for IP/host matches (and which accept wildcards). I honestly can't remember if these support multiserver or not. Find them here and here. These are basically just handy ways of filtering the internal address list.

If the person you want isn't on a channel with you, then you're stuck with hoping they aren't invisible and /who.

I'm guess I'm at lost here as the command doesn't work, but I'll give those scripts a try. Thank you guys for trying.

you're welcome. With most ppl being set invisible, unless you are in the same channel or know their nick, i'm afraid you wont have much luck.
