I am looking for a bot to have in my channel. But I was wondering, is there any programs that are used for bots? I don't want to have a bot that is ran through scripts. Is this possible?

You basically have two options

1] run a bot on a mIRC copy running on your system.
+: it's free
-: you need a 24/7 connection
2] run a eggdrop off a shell
+: more stable, don't need a 24/7 connection
-: costs cash

For info on eggdrop:

You can rent shells starting as low as a few bucks a month. Kirenet.com has good offers.

You could also try Egghelp which will walk you through setting up an eggdrop bot. The bot itself is free, but finding somewhere to host it is probably going to cost money.

You may also choose a Windrop which is a windows Eggdrop, meaning it's a standalone bot with the same features as a regular eggdrop (because it simply *is* an eggdrop compiled to run on a windows system). The advantage is that you get all the eggdrop features without having to get and pay for a shell account, the disadvantage is that the bot will be dependant on your system, thus go offline when you go offline etc.

More info on windrop can be found at http://mirc-egg.net/fwd.php?id=windrop

ALL bots (mirc/irc bots, eggdrop bots, windrop bots) use scripts to make them work. I assume what you're referring to is not wanting one that works in your current mirc (in which case, see all the fine suggestions made prior to my response to you).

You obviously know nothing about eggdrop/windrop bots. They're not a "service" of the network, they're an IRC client all their own .. designed to provide entertainment/control in channels on IRC. Eggdrops must be run on a shell account (usually costs you money every month) and are online pretty much 24/7 .. the windrops can be run on any windows-based computer, but are limited to your connection (you disconnect, they disconnect)
