I had a program installed that allowed me to chat in my friends channel. My friend that had used use IRC before installed it for me. Then my harddrive crashed and I had reinstall my programs and my friend is gone. I am trying to connect to one certian channel and one certian server.

I want to connect to the Espernet Server and the channel #squareamp. I have recently moved back to college and I know during the summer they upgrade our firewall and server. My connection problem might have to do with something like that.

When I try to connect it says Connecting but nothing happens then it resets. Or it says connetion refused, or it says it simple was able to connect.

Right now I have the look up method set to normal and it finds me and my IP address. As for anything else to change the settings I am pretty clueless.

What settings should I have in
Connection:
Options part:
Local Info
IDentd
Firewall

Or anything that should be changed. I know some computer terms and can follow along step by steps and can find out what info I need, I just need to know what information I actually have to go ask the head tech at the school.

Thanks for all your help with this issue.
Magic Jen

Can you connect to any server with mIRC? try another server in the list.. if you csnt connect to any server.. then i guess the "new" firewall u was talking about blocking the ports mIRC using..

if ($me != tired) { return } | else { echo -a Get a pot of coffee now $+($me,.) }

The ports 6667 - 6669 and 7000 should be open.. it's more ports that mIRC using to connect to irc. the best way is to look what ports that you need to connect to your server.. pic the server you want to connect to.. then press the edit button, it should show you the ports that you can connect to.. IE: 6667-6669 <<-- that means you can use any port between that number..
