Well it probably isnt mirc. What are the stats of your machine, OS, Ram, what not, and also what do you have running? Sounds as if you have a lot of programs running and its eating up CPU and ram. Best bet is close out some programs or buy more ram.

in addition:
-are you using any "speed patches" ?
-does it happen on clean copy of mIRC without any scripts?

None of those are problems. I have enough RAM, and I'm not running any scripts. But I've noticed it only does it when the speed of the download is higher than 65kb/s. When it gets past 100kb/s its gonna freeze, it does it everytime. If anyone knows why PLEASE tell me! Thanks.

-what OS are you using?
-could be limitations set by the sender or your provider

Many ISPs have what are called "file transfer bandwidth limiters." Basically, when they detect that you are using DCC, or a P2P program, or something like that, they make your connection go slow. There are two main reasons for this. One is to encourage users NOT to download mp3s, movies, warez, and other copyrighted material. The other is, when you download a big program, you are using bandwidth. Bandwidth costs your ISP money, they don't want you using more than you pay for. So if you are downloading too fast/too much, they'll slow you down. I'd suggest you contact your ISP and ask them about it.

Yeah, mine does the exact same thing too Grady, also happened to me when I used WinMX 3.31 and Sharaza (KazaaLite works fine). Doesn't do it with every bot I download off of, just off of certain ones. Also, I don't think it's a system resource problem, because I have 1 gig of ram and and a 3.0Ghz processor with a clean install of XP and Mirc 6.1 with no scripts. I'm thinking it could be a incorrect connection setting, some sort of network bug, or possibly Antivirus programs auto scanning downloads.
