Forums Connection Issues Problem: Connection between IRC Client and Server

I am intrested in administrators authentification. When I write command :
/server inetAddress port password
I log on as the administrator. Of course I have to enter proper ident, but i dont know how authorization between Client and Server are made. Can you explain me this? What command/commands are needed to establish IRC Connection between Client and Server.

There is too much information to explain here, I'd recommend typing /debug -t @debug and reconnecting to the server, this will show you the data sent between you and the server you are connecting to. If you want to read the IRC protcol you can read RFC1459 (Internet Relay Chat Protocol). You may also want to read RFC1413 (Identification Protocol).
