I propose a better $duration ( $longduration? ) that extends to months and years.
I mean, you can probably get around it with clever use of modulo, division, rounding and a variable, but I'd like to have $duration do months and years without me hacking up a special case script.
thanks for considering my idea.

Months: Not possible, 31, 30, 29, 28 days? Take your pick for a "month" definition.. Year was proposed, and I do believe it should occur. Even on a level of either 365 days, or 365.25 days. Either way, Im Flexible >:D Also in the future, please try to use the Search Feature as this has been said before.

Year cannot be implemented either because, as you indirectly indicated, each year is not the same size. Then again it may be possible if mIRC was educated as to which years are leap years, similar as to how a digital watch can do it, however it is pointless having years without months in my view.

Well i mean i would much rather see 10 years, 3 weeks then see 523 weeks. Even still, a leap year occurs every four years, leaving the layman to believe that a year is 365 (ond 1/4) days. After four years, you make up one day. I don't see any reason why that would be a problem to duess that its X amount of year. Like i said on the last duration suggestion, what does it matters if its one hour off, or even a week off. Its not being used for anything scientific, and its results aren't going to throw off the universe.
I don't see any problem making 365, or even 365.25 days added to the break down list.

I'll just say this and not get into any deeper discussion like the last time this came up, a leap year is NOT every 4 years it is "roughly" every four years. The actual length of a year would be 365.24219 days and imho then you're just making it too complex.

And again, what is wrong with guestimating that a year is 365 or 365.24 days? Duration isn't used for mathmatical situations (that I know of), but used for as reference to humans to relate that 23423423 seconds is 38wks 5days 2hrs 30mins 23secs (a figure we can comprehend)

This post describes one way of doing what you want. I've been using this scripted $duration-like identifier for quite some time and haven't had any difficulties with it.

I too have made my own duration, even got it doing decades (heh) but the point is i dont see why a single estimated year would be so harmful. the fact is, who cares if 1 year is ~365.24.... days, all i want is a figure i can understand >:D
