Forums mIRC Help "/echo 3 " please explain how this works.

hi,

I've been tryin to get this command to work for some time now and i've yet to succeed. can some oen pelase tell me how to use the /echo command?

do i need to change a setting?

/echo 3 won't work because the 3 will be interpreted as the colour you want to echo the text in. Use /echo -a 3.

im sorry but i type /echo -a 3 and it didnt work no one can see my echos but me.

That is how it is meant to be, /echo only echoes text to the client it is used in.

If you want other users to see your echo, you may try /msg $chan, /msg $active, /say, or even /me >:D

wow...now im more confused then before
is there a way i can send messages to my channel without my name showing?

No.

that depends. If you don't want it to show on your screen, yes. If you want an anonymous message to the channel, no.

As for not showing on *your* screen, place a perioud (.) before the command you wisht o use (Ex: .msg $chan, .say, etc) and it won't show on your screen.

well, /msg $chan is for scripts and remote files. the /msg $active would work in the message box, but must be //msg $active <message> (the // means execute), and /say will work only in events operated by u. Meaning like popups, and in the editbox, but not like on text, on action, etc.
