OP williiiaaaam Mostly harmless W Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 1	Hi I just downloaded mirc from your site to try it installed it and sophos virus checker told me it contained a trojan: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojircbotc.html what is going on? is this a false alarm - sophos are very good i doubt it! Will

genesis Mostly harmless G Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 1	My version of sophus does the same, i was dubious when i installed it so i did it on my test machine but after looking for the files this trojan apparently installs i cant find any. put mirc.exe in sophus' Exclude list & youll be fine. Ohh & if sophus is crap why are so many leading companies using it? heres a short list Amerada Hess, Bank of England, BBC, Deutsche Apotheken und Ärztebank, GlaxoSmithKline, Harvard University, Interbrew, KPMG, Marks & Spencer, New York University, Orange, Oxford University, Royal Air Force, Sainsbury's, Siemens, Société Générale, Toshiba, University of California, University of Hamburg, Westfalenbank, WWF and Xerox Corporation. Insanity is a cover for the thinking mind (well thats what the voices tell me)

They probably use it because it's effective at stopping viruses, Due to the tendandcy it has to flags programs as infected indiscriminately. Sopho's aren't the only ones to make mistakes like this though, But if there a good company they should admit thre mistake and correct it with an update asap.
