Forums General Discussion trojan in downloaded mirc

Hi I just downloaded mirc from your site to try it installed it and sophos virus checker told me it contained a trojan:

what is going on? is this a false alarm - sophos are very good i doubt it!

My version of sophus does the same, i was dubious when i installed it so i did it on my test machine but after looking for the files this trojan apparently installs i cant find any.

put mirc.exe in sophus' Exclude list & youll be fine.

Ohh & if sophus is crap why are so many leading companies using it?

They probably use it because it's effective at stopping viruses, Due to the tendandcy it has to flags programs as infected indiscriminately. Sopho's aren't the only ones to make mistakes like this though, But if there a good company they should admit thre mistake and correct it with an update asap.

Same reason that so many companies go broke while the CEO's collect hundreds of $ an hour in salaries.
