I just installed mirc and when I try to connect to a server it goes through the hostname lookup and stalls on the checking ident and won't progress further. Can anyone help me with this? thanks!

-do you have identd enabled in mIRC's options? (file/options/connect/identd)

-be sure you arent blocking the port needed, 113, any place (firewall, router)

Ident is enabled and 113 is allowed. I used to use mirc then reinstalled Windows and I loaded the newest version of mirc and now I am getting this. One other oddity I noiced was the area where mirc fills in your hostname and IP address, the IP address field is grayed out... ? Any other ideas? Thanks!

Do you mean the box where ip addy is checked is greyed out or the actual long addy box?

The box where addy is checked. I can't check it.

if you check the box "always get local host" it will automatically check "always get ip addy" (and grey it out). If you uncheck always get local host, the always get ip addy wont be greyed out and you can uncheck it.
