Forums mIRC Help need help main chanel wont stay connected

I have been using mirc for a little while and i am still new to it, i have read a lot of posts here and cant find info on this?

I connect to say tmd-moviez and it connects fine and i connect to the channel #tmd moviez and its works ok then when i type in someones /ctcp thier window opens ok but as soon as i work in the new window that opens and perform a command such as dir then the origional channel window in this case #tmdmoviez stops updating
and it shows where dcc fileserve as the last line.
mirc says i'm still connected to the server
but i cant gat the channel to respond
this just started to happen this week before i could do this and the main channel would still keep updating and i could go back and talk in it.
i tried other chanels and their all the same ?

Well, in an attept to be correct about using the "we" term, *most* of us on this message board do not promote illigal file sharing, such as the very famous tmd movies. Stealing a movie from a company isn't something I'm going to help you with, but maybe one of the posters on here with no common sense will.

sorry certainlly not implying anything thatis not correct, i was just using that channel as an example, like i said this happens on all chanels i have tried!

i was hopeing that it was something as simple as a setting i have wrong.
any help is appreaciated

Well what KingTomato said includes all channels that promote illegal activity in general on IRC. If you have intentions of "stealing" content from the makers of the movies, music, or even the porn peddlers without paying for it then you probably won't be helped by someone who respects the copyright laws.

i would suggest going thru your scripts making sure your not just ignoring the channel or something ...... im not understandign your question tho even if it is every channel and u just chose to post a file sharing channel ....... at any rate look thru ur scripts and see if u have something messing things up or redownload and try a clean install of mirc

interesting how you consider it preaching when someone warns a user about the illegality/dangers of downloading or voices their opinion about this subject. i wonder if you also consider it preaching when helping a user get rid of a trojan, they are told they got it from downloading?

cute, but irrelevant...I assume you are attempting to say that to any given question someone references downloading in their reply. in relation to downloading, the guy would have been saying: hey mr mechanic, how do make my car go over the speed limit and where can i find ppl to run over?

Since there is a likely possibility that the person is experiencing this prob due to something/some script he downloaded, and considering the channel he mentioned, doesnt seem farfetched to mention the hazards.

Ya know, if you want to download, thats your choice... but why pounce anyone else who says they wont help with that and explains why to inform the poster of something they may not be aware of? You are entitled to your opinion, so are others.

Some ppl download in spite of why they shouldnt. Some ppl dont. Some ppl/forums help others in spite of it. Some dont and explain why. Can we quit picking on that poor dead horse now?
