I know how to use IRC as a user but have no clue how I could do what I currently need. Is there a way to have a 24/7 presence on IRC without using a client on my personal computer? I can't keep my PC on all the time but need uninterrupted logs for a project I am working on. Can this be done somehow?

You could get a VPS (virtual private server) and run an irc client on that with logging enabled. You can find some free or inexpensive VPS out there but most/all would be linux. Other than running your computer 24/7 a remote server is about the only option.

I run a raspberry pi 2 computer (a very lightweight and affordable mircro pc) 24/7 with raspbian as the o/s + znc bouncer software. smile

Hello!!
There is a module in ZNC that keeps logs. I don't know if there is a limit though. There are some tottaly free znc providers. The 2 i have tried are mtBNC and Elitebnc. I haven't tried the Logs module though, but you can search their FAQ or ask them in their I.R.C chans for more details.
