I am trying to get some files from another mirc user who is running mirc v6.17 and omenserve 2.60(w/Quicklist by Duke Lupus) Some of the file names contain German Umlauts (ä, ö, ü, etc). His server says these files do not exist, to get an up to date list. I've done that, and files remain in his list. Am trying to determine if it's mirc, omenserve or a windows system parameter that causes this issue.

Any assistance appreciated.

If you send those accentued letters with utf8 and he is not decoding the same way, he will get something else, and anything like $exists() would fail.
Try sending the message using /raw -n

/msg #chan äöüï becomes /raw -n privmsg #chan :äöüï
