When called without its prompt parameter, $input just return $null silently.
In my opinion, the best would be to be able to have an empty prompt like the others parameters, but at least to halt with an error

I agree the current behaviour appears counterintuitive, yet I suppose scripts will have taken use of it (like a "$input(%i,y,Confirm)"), thus thus changing it will break them). I'm not sure whether it's worth the trouble...

It doesn't matter at all if script use it, it's not because people use something that it's not a bug and shouldn't be fixed.
