when i'm using torrent nw, my irc can't get a decent speed, in other words, the dl speed will go frm 20kb and goes down to 0kb until it times out. The problem wasn't frm the start, but after using it for a long time... anyone hav any idea

limit the dl/upload speed of your torrents to allow irc downloads some bandwidth!

if using xp you might need this: http://www.lvllord.de/?url=tools

Torrents will try to use all of your bandwidth unless you set limits on them. That means you'll have more trouble sending or receiving in mIRC. It *should* still give you some speed in mIRC even if the torrents are attempting to use all of your bandwidth, but you're still better off setting limits. In some torrent clients, like utorrent, you can even set a schedule so that it limits speeds during the day when you're using the computer, but not during the night when you're sleeping.

Your best option is what I said... Set a limit on torrent speeds (at least while you're using IRC and want to send or receive files). It is the same thing as if you were wanting to play an online game. You wouldn't want torrents running at the same time unless the speeds are limited because your game wouldn't work very well.
