Hi all,

I seem to be having a problem in that when I load mIRC up, and try to connect, I continually get an error message saying 'unable to connect to IRC server'.

I suspect the reason to be that I am running through a house network, and it is unable to connect through it.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get around this minor irritation??

Have you tried other servers? Try connecting to b0rk.uk.quakenet.org by typing /server b0rk.uk.quakenet.org.

Are you trying other servers/networks to connect to? mIRCs default connections are DALnet servers which happen to be not working at this time. In the connections forum on this message board there is a sticky post titled "Active DALnet Servers" in one of the first few posts, there is a link to a page that lists the active DALnet servers --If you even wanna connect to DALnet that is...

general FYI: a new servers.ini was put on www.mirc.com a couple weeks ago. While it isnt totally accurate for DALnet, (impossible feat as yet) it does have some working ones. Just dont use random

electrify: make sure you arent blocking mIRC and the server ports, 6660-6669,7000-7001 and 113 (for identd).

I knew that there was a new server.ini file introduced a few weeks ago, and have noticed the new DALnet servers. Howerver, I was considering the possibility that some users aren't aware and are just downloading mIRC automatically thinking that they are gonna connect right away. Ahh well no biggie.

[Brat note: wasnt aimed at you, your post was a good opportunity to mention the new servers.ini as a general FYI for those not aware of it smile

If DALnet is were you trying to connect you might wanna read the following:

Here you can find active DALnet servers: http://edk.dyndns.org/servers/ Auto updated every hour, also for the lazy ones http://edk.dyndns.org/servers/servers.ini to download the auto generated servers list for mIRC. laugh

i'm not sure i understand exactly what you are asking. If the problem is that you are unable to connect, try looking at this thread and if nothing there helps, please try to explain your problem again.
