Sup.

How do I make Chanserv keep a permanent topic? The IRC channel I own is fairly new so not a lot of people use it and if everyone leaves, the first person to re-enter the channel chanserv changes the topic to what it was in the first place. confused

How do I stop it from changing?

Thanks.

Try...

/msg ChanServ help topic

and

/msg ChanServ help set keeptopic

and

/msg ChanServ help set topiclock

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I tried what you said and it's still changing the topic to what it currently is.

This is what I get when I enter the channel when no one else is in there.

ChanServ sets mode: +r
ChanServ changes topic to 'TOPIC'
ChanServ sets mode: +q USERNAME

Any ideas?

Are you setting the new topic through chanserv using the topic command?

Yes, when I set up the topic for the first time I used the /topic command.

Try setting the topic through chanserv using...

/msg ChanServ TOPIC #yourchannel Your topic goes here.

Did you type /msg chanserv keeptopic off and /msg chanserv topiclock off then ?
Try changing the topic after this two commands

Yeah I've done that. Turned keep topic and topic lock off, changed topic, put them back on, left channel, re-enter and chanserv changes the topic lol.

Does ChanServ change the topic to what you set it?

Yes, whatever I set it to chanserv will come change it to what it already was when I enter the room without anyone being in there.

It's the normal behavior. When nobody is on a channel, the channel "doesn't exist" anymore. When the first user joins, the server recreates the channel; the chanserv sees the "new" channel, and sets the correct topic.
