Forums mIRC Help irc:// links not connecting to server

Hi all!

I just updated my mIRC to version 6.31 and it looks pretty nice so far. Just one little problem. I used to be able to start mIRC by double clicking a shortcut on my desktop, so that it automatically connects to a server. For example: [url=irc://xs4all.nl.quakenet.org.][url=irc://xs4all.nl.quakenet.org.][url=irc://xs4all.nl.quakenet.org.]irc://xs4all.nl.quakenet.org.[/url][/url][/url]

When I run the shortcut now, mIRC is started, but doesn't connect to the server. I have to run the shortcut again to actually connect.

I tried to fix it by making a shortcut to mIRC.exe, and adding the -s switch like so: "C:\Program Files\mIRC\mirc.exe" -sxs4all.nl.quakenet.org:6667. Same result, mIRC is started but doesn't connect.

Who can help me fix this minor annoyance?

Do you have mIRC's connect on startup option checked? Alt-O > Connect > Options.

Beyond that, try this on a clean copy of mIRC downloaded from http://www.mirc.com/ . And note that hacked versions have bugs that are unrelated to the real version of mIRC, including startup bugs. So if you're using a hacked version, that may also be why.
