I would suggest that the next version of mIRC will set the default font verdana, that font is much more beautiful than that which is ugly Fixedsys

Several months ago, shortly after the release of 6.31.

First I'd like to point out something I said in the post linked above: "ugly" is subjective. Fortunately, there are plenty of people who still think Fixedsys is a truly solid, good looking font.

But more importantly... why can't you just change the font when you run mIRC? Why does it have to be at install? Either way you would have to change a default value, so does it make a difference that it's done after running mIRC?

Contrary to popular belief, looking at fixedsys for 30 seconds before you change the font will *not* kill you.

The reasons I state in the linked thread answer all of these points.

Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and stupid comments are intentional.

That's a personal preference. There's no legitimate reason to change the default font to Verdana or any other font --- OTHER THAN choosing a default font that is fixed width and displays unicode properly. That's the only type of font that should change the default font.

I use Verdana. I like Verdana. I don't see any reason to change the default font to it.

there are many reasons for using fixedsys, and if u dont like them, pick your own.. u only have to do it once.., arial and tahoma are the best fonts :P

What other part of the program uses FixedSys? NONE!

An alternative would probably still have a fixed width. So Courier or Courier New would be the best choices.

I am surprised this still hasn't changed.

What other part of the program uses courier? I don't understand how that argument justifies any font over fixedsys.
