I can't DCC send, even having tried all this:

1) Disabled firewall and just connected using Enter.net Jackflash software. It's some sort of PPPOE connection thing, like enternet 300.

2) Tried suggestion 1 and manually set the local host address to match the result I get from using /DNS.

3) Tried everything related to messing with MIRC options that I could find off MIRC faq and perhaps 30 other websites. This includes messing with the local host lookup settings, checking dcc server, setting the port and checking send, chat, etc...

4) With firewall (router) enabled, used port forwarding on the appropriate ports for ident, irc, fserve, etc...

5) Experimented using DCC chat with others (unsuccessful). Experimented with send DCC files to a user by specifying their IP address (unsuccessful)

That's all that I can remember trying right now...

All I care about right now is getting DCC Chat/Send to work without the firewall. Then, I'll be able to focus on send files through the firewall.

Maybe somebody else uses epix.net Jack Flash DSL and knows what the problem is? As far as I know, if I'm not using the router to connect the multiple computers in my house, then I need to use the Jack Flash software that epix sent me along with the modem. It's uses PPPOE, and I think it's very similar to Enternet 300 software.

I've read that PPPOE sometimes (or always?) deals with proxies, and that this may be causing the problem. I know I'm not running the proxies, but I heard they could be running within the modem itself or even on the server. I've searched epix help files and online knowledge base comprehensively and cannot ascertain if there is some proxy running somewhere that I'm unaware of.

Even if a direct solution can't be had, just some clarity would be greatly appreciated. For instance: Can I connect one computer to enter.net without using their Jack Flash software? Am I justified in targeting PPPOE as a potential problem?

I'll be updating this post as (or rather, if) I find any new suggestions to try out.

Thank you in advance.

I was having the same problem because I am running my dsl line through a router to several systems.
If this is the case for you, then perhaps this may help. Also, I am descibing what I did with my Netgear FVS318 Router, it may be a bit different depending on what router you are using. I am also using win2k here.

(In router settings web page)
1. Under "Advanced" click on "Ports"
2. Check the "Default DMZ Server" box
3. Enter a static IP address you want your box to use
4. Click Apply
(In Win2k)
5. Right click on network icon on desktop
6. Select Properties
7. Right click on Local Area Connection
8. Select Properties
9. Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"
10. Click on "Properties" button
11. Select "Use the following ip address"
12. Enter the static IP address from step 3
13. For subnet mask put 255.255.255.0
14. For default gateway, enter the IP address of the router
15. Select "Use the following DNS Server addresses"
16. For preferred DNS server, enter the IP address of the router
17. Click OK
18. You may want to reboot your router, then reboot your system too

This should force your router to send all traffic to and from the routers IP address directly to your system.

In MIRC select "Server" for lookup method. Make sure that Local Host and IP Address fields are blank, and that their checkboxes are checked.

I hope this helps!
