Forums mIRC Help Connection Refused problem

When trying to connect to any servers, I always get this problem:



I am using the latest release of mIRC on Vista Ultimate 64bit. Also running mIRC under WinXP SP2 compatibility mode. I am also living in South Korea at the moment.

Also waiting on my registration info email.

I connected right away using that address and port, but try irc.gamesurge.net 6667 to see if you have any better luck. Also try servers from their servers list. They don't have any asian servers in that list.

Running mIRC 6.31 in XP compatibility mode is not necessary.

It seems to be not working on any 6667 port. And when I try connecting to servers on different port numbers I get this:

Try irc.eu.gamesurge.net 6668

Are there any Windows services i need to initialize to help?

None that I can think of, unless you have a third party firewall software that's blocking outgoing connections on common irc ports.

None besides Windows Defender and a DLink DGL-4300 router.

Are there any ports I should open for mIRC?

Well I can't think of anything else, maybe their servers are blocking connections from asian ip addresses? I don't know, you should contact them about this.

The problem is its not just gamesurge, its any network I have tried connecting to... And its not like it just cycles through the connection refused messages. A pop-up box immediatly appears as soon as I hit connect.

I think its a problem with my PC, since I can connect on my Mac using Smack IRC client. When I get off work in 23 hours and 15 minutes Ill try turning off my McAfee.

Routers can block IRC connections. Check your router settings to see if yours has such an option. Also, make sure any firewall that you have is set to not only allow the ports, but also allow IRC because some will also block IRC in general regardless of the port forwarding done.
