I was a usual visitor of the channel #serialz and now I am not able to get in there anymore. I ge the messege "#serialz unable to join channel (need correct key)" What do I need to do to get back in the channel? confused

Thanks for any tips.

You need to find someone that knows the key for that channel, then join it using
/join #channel <key>

You might be able to get a list of names that are on the channel by using /names #channel

No luck with the /names #channel. Any other ideas?

Try /who <#channel>
That should give you a list in your status window in the format of:
<#channel> <nick><other information>
The information you need to worry about is the <nick(s)> that are returned.

/list #channel

sometimes channels put the key in the topic just to prevent bots.

failing that, msg an op

if its a registered channel on a network with services(chanserv etc) try /chanserv info #channelname to get the name of the creator(owner) of the channel. that person might be online but not in a /names result. /whois ownernick to see if they are online and if so, /msg them for the key.
