I recently experienced a problem with me downloading large files over 400MB. I try and download demos from Mirc from people and I can't go past 400MB. I tried d/l'ing from many people but its the same problem, I d/l at like 400kb and when it reaches 400MB the connection just dies. I have re-installed windows, bypassed the router, called the isp and nothing. I am all out of ideas, I don't have a cap and no ports are being blocked, please help.

Is this occuring on ALL files or just one particular file?
I its one file, maybe the sender has a problem at the 400meg mark, hdd failure to read for instance.

This is occuring with all files that I d/l and its not from one person. My computer is fine, no viruses no firwalls no extra programs running in the background. I even bypassed the router and it still didn't work. can anyone help, or ever seen this problem?

It did not work. Just to make it clear, I am able to d/l 400 and bigger files through IE, the cable company has nothing to do with this problem and my computer is functioning properly. No viruses or other stuff. My problem seems like the software bogs down or a buffer problem? Is this possible?

Nbody have any ideas, my computer is functioning just fine, I bypassed the router so no ports can be blocked, called up my isp and they say my conn is fine and they aren't blocking anything. Is it possible that mirc is running out of a buffer or something and thats why it stops at 400mb? And I'm not trying to d/l from the same person, its everyone I'm trying to get a demo from. Please any help would be much appretiated.

its not mirc dude, its your machine, or your mirc alone, maybe a script or something, but its just you.

I'm having the exact same problem. I don't think it's the computer. Any other suggestions.

I found something that might pretain to my problem, but I still need someones advice on if its possible. First, I had a roommate that had a laptop and was d/l illigal software without me knowing from p2p networks, that went on for some time, until he got kicked out of my room and thats when I stopped sharing my internet connection. I thought I was doing him a favor by letting him use my network for ligit use but I was wrong. So without knowing I went about my buisness for months after he was gone. After a while I got this 400mb limit d/l for mirc, and I didn't know why. Today I decided to finally activate my email acount that the isp had provided me with and when I set it up there was a copywrite infirngment letter stating that I had d/led a "Harry potter and the fire goblet", I was like wtf I don't d/l kids movies; so I ask my buddy next door and he told me that my old roommate was into that shi* and he was the one that d/led it sometime in March. The email was from March 13, and so I say its the iraa r some other similar company who's messing with my d/l's; only conclusion I can come up with. But my question is can they actually prevent me from d/ling over 400mb? Anyone?

When u dl using dcc, its ip to ip so its unconnected to the irc network your on, I hardly think that the ISP is monitoring what irc network your on then monitoring if you start a dl while on that network, using that network, and then waiting tell u reach 400mb and then stopping the download.
You never mentioned if you can resume these downloads at the 400mb mark or not.
Since you say it doesnt occur on other networks, maybe try this. Start download, disconenct from irc server, connect to different irc server where it doesnt occur, see if download stops at 400mb mark. *** beaware that some xdcc/fservs well halt your download should you leave the irc server (this is a scripted action), so this may not be possable to test ***

You're both on the same ISP. (Sorry, thought I'd speed things along).
I would imagine, based on what's been posted so far, it is not a problem with mIRC but your ISP. That would explain why barely anyone else has this problem.

Mentality/Chris

I have charter communications, the guys gonna come over today and fix it, so hopefully I'll be able to do some work. Check your routing table in the router too, I found some shi* thats not supposed to be there.
