When I do /dns mynick, I get a message saying "Dns resolved mynick.thisnetwork.com to xx.xx.xx.xx, which is different than the one when I do //say $ip. Then I tried using /localinfo -u, but when I type /dns mynick it goes back to the IP that doesn't match with my //say $ip command. ANy help?
No, when I do /dns mynick, It shows my IP address I check this with my //say $ip command and its different They say that if you type /localinfo -u, that it'll fix it But when I type /dns mynick and //say $ip, it still doesn't match ANy help?
when u do "/localinfo -u" that asks the IRC server what IP your connected on, so i would beleive that over what ever your DNSing, since that can be fooled without any trouble.
Some networks apply a vhost to their clients (like quakenet -> NICK.users.quakenet.org). Unless you turn that feature of the network off, you will always get an ip (if at all) that does not match your actual one.
Check your networks homepage about "hostmasking", "vhosts" or something similar.
