I strongly disagree.
I've been frequenting that site every day since a week, and have noticed there is absolutely no virus checking of the snippets. I can't tell about addons/full scripts, as I don't check those out.
The quality of some of the stuff submitted there, is quite frankly beneath anything I've ever seen, and the code is very often very lacking or incorrectly working. I can't remember rolling my eyes so often ever since I've been seeing what kind of code some people submit there.
Just take a look at the latest mIRC snippet (/ame & /amsg) it has fundamental design flaws, which I have explained in the comment section there. On mirc.net, as a reviewer/virus checker, this would never have gotten through.
Note that one musn't generalize, there are of course a lot of other submissions there that are of decent enough quality, but since there is no virus checking/testing done by administrators, anyone is basically free to post whatever there. Only a few days ago someone had posted a snippet/addon that was created with the intention to steal another person's nickserv or chanserv password.
Even though it got deleted later on, something like this would never even get passed the virus checking process on mircscripts.org or mirc.net.
The community of hawkee seems nice, but that site needs some staff to take care of handling incoming submissions, because right now as it stands, some of the crap that gets submitted there takes down the overall quality of the site, thus also those submissions that are actually of good quality.
There are too many novices at mIRC Scripting there that submit code, for which I feel ashamed for it in their place. There is not one strand of hair on my head that would even consider to submit a snippet, if I didn't have atleast a decent understanding of the language, and find myself capable enough and ready to make a valid contribution.
