Hi, sorry my ugly english.

My suggestion is to add the option of viewing mIRC windows like a book, for example this is the classical view:

<icmps> you said "your govt"
<ivy^> but, in fact, he is more like us, than
different from us
<ashes> yes, its included. canada's govt is currupt
<icmps> ahah
<icmps> why not move?
<leonid> canada's women are butt ugly.
<leonid> nasty
<Sloth> i do consider him a human being but issues
with his parents and shell shock from ww1 sent him
into his own crazy world were he blamed jews for
everything wrong
<ivy^> no, they're not...
<icmps> no money?
<icmps> lol.
<ashes> there is no where to move to
<icmps> you might as well live with it
<ashes> except iceland
<ashes> no

And this is the "book-style" view:

<icmps> you said "your govt" <ivy^> but, in
fact, he is more like us, than different from
us <ashes> yes, its included. canada's govt is
currupt <icmps> ahah <icmps> why not move?
<leonid> canada's women are butt ugly. <leonid>
nasty <Sloth> i do consider him a human being
but issues with his parents and shell shock
from ww1 sent him into his own crazy world were
he blamed jews for everything wrong <ivy^> no,
they're not... <icmps> no money? <icmps> lol.
<ashes> there is no where to move to <icmps>
you might as well live with it <ashes> except
iceland <ashes> no

I think it's practical and better for easy and fast reading, what do you think?

Would take up less room, and some mite like it... but personally it would make my eyes cross. But then i tend to spend all my time in help channels and have to often scroll back and forth, so "book view" would make that harder to spot what/who im looking for quickly.

and no need to apologize for your english smile

Some might like it, personally I would find it very confusing in a busy channel. It's hard enough sometimes to keep up as it is, lol

It leaves the conversation very much open to being 'polluted' by devious users.

For example:
If a person called 'nick_1' types 'yes I agree. <nick_2> I hate you all. You suck.' it would be impossible for anyone to tell if that was a real message from nick_2 or a fake one inserted by nick_1. Obviously for people using nick colouring it would probably be a lot clearer, but those who weren't could be easily fooled by it.

I wouldn't use such a feature because channel windows are polluted with too much garbage these days. Instead of just a conversation between people we are asked to put up with "I am playing ABBA - RING RING.MP3" or "I am away - My nick says that I am away but I thought I would send this message to the room every 5 mins because I think everyone is too intelligent to care what my nick is - Paging off Logging off Tossing on", etc etc etc. Not to mention those that try to send every sentence as a channel notice or channel CTCP. This would make a room more unreadable than it already is.

That could be expanded to:
/say blah blah blah ctrl+k3 * someguy has joined #chan ctrl+k3 * someguy sets mode: +o someguy <someguy> Take over time!!!!

Now at quick glance there, someguy joined the channel, opped himself, then said "Take over time!!!!" This would definately cause too many problems to be worth it...

Furthermore, the format for a conversation in print is to (generally speaking) separate each person's quoted text into its own paragraph, sometimes even adding a blank line between each paragraph. When the speaker changes, so does the paragraph. wink
