Somehow mIRC has been installed on my machine. I did not download this application nor did I install it. A screen pooped up when I started my machine this morning asking about mIRC ? There is no mIRC icon in the toolbar at the bottom of my Windows 200 screen. There is a blank space that causes a "mIRC none" message to be displayed when i place the cursor on the space. When I try to use the "add or remove software program function to remove mIRC it says you must first exit the program???? It does not appear in the task list. How do I get rid of this program???

thanks

Sounds like you got yourself a trojan/virus. Run any antivirus and trojan scanners that you have. You may also need to start up in Safe Mode in order to uninstall it if it's hiding in the task manager.

Thanks for your help. I ran Norton antivirus and it found nothing. So I restarted in safe mode and successfully removed mIRC. I'm sure it is a very helpful and the useful application. Maybe llater I'll install it and see what it is all about.
