Welcome to the mIRC message boards
You could view the
Wikipedia entry on mIRC to see a fairly neutral point of view with regards to mIRC, including its main features and criticisms.
The main benefits of mIRC is dependent on what you want to do with mIRC/IRC...for example, if you have no interest in using your computer for playing music on your computer then mIRC's ability to be an mp3 player is fairly useless.
mIRC however, usually through its scripting engine, is extremely versatile. It can be almost anything you want, though of course it is primarily designed to be an IRC client, used to connect to IRC and present IRC in an easy to understand, graphical way for the end user.
More information on mIRC can be found in the
mIRC FAQ and in
Khaled's FAQ. There's also a helluva lot of links in the
More Info section of the site, which you may like to read and click on.
