My suggestion is to set up uPNP support for outgoing DCC connections - alot of 'home use' broadband routers have uPNP support and it'd be easier to set up for most people than setting up port forwarding (especially when you have dynamic ips).

So in options -> options -> advanced, you have DCC and Other check boxes with a range of IPs (which would need to be forwarded) - under this next to "use random ports" put a "use uPNP".

Also in options -> DCC -> Server add a uPNP setting next to Port (or it can use the one above).

I think uPNP would be great on DCC send, maybe I could get my machines to send out then.

Maybe its possible to create some kind of addon to cope with this.

Any thoughts?

I did search, the only post on this forum I could find with regards to uPNP was this one.

I think you were dreaming...

That's because you didn't read the Search page properly and didn't expand the date range to '5 years'. I found 55 results.

Or perhaps it was due the poorly designed User Interface...

Let me get this stright, you told me to search through 5 years worth of posts to discover that there is no uPNP support, which I already knew.

I found a semi-interesting post here: Support for UPnP routers
And another post listing people who want to see uPnP support here: uPnP Support Please!

Is there any new information on this? There certainly arn't any script or dll solutions...

1) Someone said they thought there was a script posted. They said to try searching for it.

2) You said you searched and didn't find anything.

3) You were told that by increasing the search range to 5 years, that you would find some.

So... why are you complaining? You were given what help was available. If there isn't a script or DLL, then there isn't one. You can always try a script site like mircscripts.org and see if they have any. The interface here isn't perfect, but if you read all the options when searching, it's not hard to see the range to search. smile

That wasn't complaining...

If people tried to answer the question rather than sending people on wild goose chases, then maybe we'd be closer to a solution... wink

BTW, can I just say, before you advise people where to check for existing scripts, you should first try to see if they exist. Firstly because chances are I have already checked, hence why i'm still looking for one, and secondly its misleading and unhelpful.

I am here to make a suggestion about a possible feature that is missing from mIRC, or a potential opitunity to create a very useful script/dll solution to overcome this problem for alot of people. If I knew C++ i'd be creating my own DLL, but I have no idea where to start with this. If anyone does, i'd like to hear from you.

Anyone who has tried to troubleshoot DCC for someone behind a router should be down on their hands and knees praying for UPnP support.

This is by far the most useful and desperately needed feature.
