Every time I use ANY aliases, they break. Even the regular ones, like /j and /k. I can still use /join to get around, but I don't like it. I'm using mIRC v6.16, and Windows XP. Help, please.

Like 7 posts below (ok 'Problem' is not a good thread topic):

Check that the Pause/Break key on your keyboard isn't stuck, or just tap it a few times.

that doesn't work. and it seems to me that this is a common problem, not just a fluke in one person keyboard. pressing that key doesn't help me. I have had to reinstall it under diffrent names (ex: "Mirc2") and it worked for a while. It is not my script either because the script that comes standard is messing up.

Before all of this happened, i was having a problem with something saying "renamedMircClient" allow/disallow. I no longer have that program and the moment my trial expired, this started to happen.

I am guessing that this is a trojan/virus or something. Please do not treat it as user error. What should we do?

Reinstalling doesn't work
Taking our personal scripts out doesn't work
Actually, not much does work.

Thank you, and I hope you can help.

Regarding the renamed mIRC thing, the mIRC exe filename must start out with "mirc" or it will not work.

I've also just begun experiencing this problem. Using mIRC 6.17 and Windows XP. Thought it might be related to security since I recently switched to using a "user" grade account (instead of one with admin priv) on XP, but mIRC was running fine under this change for several weeks. Now I can run no aliases at all. Halts immediately on the line defining the alias entered. (e.g. /j xxx halts on the line defining /j).

Has anyone seen a cause/solution to this???
