I've been using mIRC for a little over a year now, and while I was at school, everything worked fine. When I moved back home for summer though, IRC started acting a little wonky. Whenever an XDCC server attempts to send me a file, I'll lose all connectivity. It will get about halfway through the transfer, and the file transfer will stop, and I will timeout from all the servers/ channels I'm currently in. After that any packet that is sent from my computer just disappears, and I have to restart my computer to resolve my connectivity problems. I can then only release my IP address, not renew it. Rebuilding the TCP/IP stack doesn't help either. It only happens when I'm on IRC though, as any other network action does not cause this problem to occur.

I'm running Win XP Pro w/ all applicible patches, mIRC v. 6.16, and I'm on an ADSL service (zoomtown) with a westell 327w router/ gateway.

Last time I checked, Linux Distros aren't illegal.
