It's the same person though. And it happened a little over two weeks ago too, same username.

This has been reported before, years ago iirc, I don't remember a conclusion being reached. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with being logged in twice, even in different browsers.

Didn't know image tags could be so much fun smirk

It would appear to either be an issue in the database or the sign-up/login checking since the guy has two separate user IDs with the same name. Typically you'd expect the username field in a database to be marked as unique, which, if that's the case, says there's something very wrong with the database. If for some bizarre reason it isn't marked as unique on the database and instead the signup/login script is the issue, well that's less of a problem in a sense but you really have to wonder about the coding quality of the boards as a whole given this combined with the virtually unusable Search feature and the apparent unupgradeability of the forums (ie. everyone lost their PMs during the last upgrade, that really shouldn't be necessary).

The search feature is far from unusable. I did post a little something here to help people get better search results.

Searching for some things returns an error, from what I saw at the UBB.Threads forum that was fixed in 6.5.1+, which hopefully we'll have in the near future, whenever Tjerk gets the time.

Perhaps we should change to phpBB smirk

A little bug such as a double entry in the whois online list is no bug deal.

No big deal? I thought I was going even more crazy than I already am, not to mention something with my eyesight for double vision.

Don't get me wrong if I was playing a football game I'd never miss if I saw 2 goals.

Its not milKeR & miIKeR is it ?

Just in case someone says, OMG Daves on the booze again!

thats /echo -a $lower(milKeR & miIKeR)

milker & miiker

I used to do that for laughs back in the old Napster v1 days, locate a user and duplicate there name using a capital i instead of a l or viseversa, good for a laugh for 5 mins as they swear black and blue there not saying what it looks like there saying.

Dave's on the booze again!

It's definitely an l (el) since the upper case I (ai) looks different in nicknames on these boards.

They have different profiles (Here & here).
Also, one is a newbie and one is a stranger (User titles).

Binary variables agree with me that both usernames are exactly the same. grin

It's not simply the ones which return error messages or the unusual syntax that's the issue though. Quite often you'll get no errors and yet when you select any of the results there'll be no text in the body of any of the posts. There appear to be some major character escaping issues in play.

There's also an error for every post in the thread at the top of the screen in the blank-post search results.

You can fix it by removing the red part in this example search: ../showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=bugreports&Number=121165&Searchpage=1&Main=121153&Words=%26quot%3B+%24%2A+%26quot%3B&topic=&Search=true#Post121165

I *think* removing that part of the URL stops your search term appearing in bold, i'm sure you can live with that until it's fixed.
