Forums Connection Issues Um, can't find hostname and my IP, new to this :S

Hi,

My friend set me up with this and I'm having touble. I'm told I need my hostname and IP address, but when I do what my friend says it says that it can't look up my host name and can't resolve to an IP address?!?!?!?!

I don't want to ask him for help, can anyone here help me?!?!

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do, but you can return your own IP by typing //echo -a $ip in any window.

/help $ip
/help $host

Thanks for that, although I don't really know what it does.

I have a friend overseas who I'm wanting to send pictures too. They're a bit big so I got told best not to e-mail them and to send them through here. Is that right? Anyway, when I try to send it to them it says 'awaiting reply' then times out?!?!

Any more ideas? I called my ISP people to see if I was behind a firewall thingy and they said not one that would stop me doing this.
