You have to add mIRC to your startup by finding the startup folder (I didn't know the directory so Start > All Programs and find the word 'Startup' in that list, right click the word 'Startup' and clicking on 'Open' worked for me). You then need to drag your mIRC shortcut to the window that opens.

Alternatively, you could try using $finddir in the Documents and Settings folder, that's where my Startup folder is and I guess that would be fairly consistent in all Windows, even though the exact subdirectory might be different. Try //echo -a $finddir("C:\Documents and Settings",startup,0,echo -a $1-) in mIRC. Mine is in "C:\Documents And Settings\Matt Reid\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" (Don't ask me who Matt Reid is!)
Do note this may only be for XP, I only tried it on that.
