The ridiculously long password is a default display setting, probably set for security reasons so nobody can get the slightest hint as to what your password may be (if they are looking at the computer screen for example). The number of bullet points does not represent the number of letters in your password.
Anyway, your password probably has changed. Once you're taken back to 'My Home', logout of your account and log back in with your OLD password, it should not accept it. Then try your NEW password, and ta-da, it should get you back in.
I managed to change my password to "testpass" and back to my previous one successfully in the space of 5 mins.
