I cannot think of a good
legal reason why you would need to download via mIRC with a download speed faster than 45-50kbps (IMO you don't even need that).
If you're downloading mp3s, movies, software, books etc, then you are breaking copyright laws. Remember that mIRC and IRC is for chatting (hence Internet Relay Chat), it's not for mass/illegal file trading - not even the author of mIRC agrees with it. On top of all this it's a good way to get yourself infected with a virus which could potentially (and ironically) end up with you losing all your already-downloaded files.
