Yes, that is what needs to happen. The reasons for this are explained in my post. Web pages can specify their codepage encoding in their HTML, that is why browers can support them. For codepages to work correctly on IRC, IRC would need to support per message codepage encoding, and in fact, if a person were to speak in multiple languages on the same line, it would need to support multiple codepage encodings per line. By using UTF-8, there is no need for any codepage encodings at all. All languages are supported at the same time.

Please note that mIRC v7.x was released in 2010 and this issue has been discussed many times before. There really are no plans to add codepage support back to mIRC. Thanks for your comments everyone.
