If mIRC is made to support 24-bit colors (^k#000000-^k#ffffff), then it ought to also support longer messages; much longer than the IRC protocol's limit of 512 characters and mIRC's limit of (somewhere around) 1000 characters. This is necessary for both 24-bit colors and Unicode text.

It's possible to write an IRC server that allows for messages longer than 512 characters (I have done this already), and most other IRC clients (X-Chat and irssi for example) support messages of arbitrary length. mIRC oddly enough does not.
