It means, the channel has been set to invite only. Unless you're an op in the channel, the only way to get into the channel is to be invited. However, if that mode isn't usually set, it may have been set due to flooding and may be removed after awhile.
You can wait to see if it's removed, or you can try asking an op in the channel to invite you. Typing /who #channel (replace #channel with the channel name) can sometimes show you the nicks of ops if you don't already know their nicks. Either way, this is something that the ops of that channel have chosen to do and there isn't anything we can do to change that.
