Never wondered 'bout this. $os returns a short token: 95, 98, NT, ME, 2K, XP, 2003 or Vista. As it returned neither "Home" nor "Professional" using XP, why should it return the Edition (out of 25(!?)) using Vista...
It shouldnt... but, Longhorn is a seperate Windows version to Vista. if 2003 server shows... longhorn should...
