I'm not sure to understand what you mean. I use mIRC on my USB stick (that's why I use the -portable switch). Of course the driver letter is not always the same on each computer, but beside that, the installation is always the same.
If the changing of the drive letter does not permit to use mIRC as a portable application, I think that mIRC is not portable at all and thus the -portable switch is useless.
