its closer to "you may make a backup copy for recovery/replacement purposes only, of the original that you own", some useage licences try and say thats not ok, but normally local law overrides them. However I doubt "recovery/replacement purposes" really covers copies of rental store dvd's (unless i made it incase i damaged the original during watching lol)
