Ummm, for the past week I have been unable to connect to IRC...I get the same message when I try...


* Unable to create socket

* Connect retry #1 204.***.70.20 (6668)

What exactly is this all about?

could mean lots of things, some maybes:

1) the socketname or port is already in use

2) reboot cuz you're out of resources

3) you're not connected to your ISP, so nothing to create a socket TO

I've tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling mIRC, connecting to a different channel...and nothing. I get the same message each time...

The only time that I can recall getting that message myself was when I had lost connection to the Internet (Para's reason #3). If your modem isn't currently connected to your ISP, there's "no path out of the computer," which is basically what that message means.

Are you able to get to a web page in your browser at the same time that you are getting that message in mIRC?
