I have experienced massive corruption of log files using mIRC 6.12. It mostly happens to logs of active channels but can happen in any...

Hmmm. Did an improper system shutdown occur on the day those logs were being recorded?

I assume you're using NTFS. As you probably know, although it's a journalised filesystem, it's not perfect...

I'm using FAT32. While my computer does tend to crash a lot, it dosen't look like filesystem corruption, there's a lot less junk than the size of the missing data, and it dosen't always happen on sector boundaries.

Check you fire wall and other security measures you are using looks to me like you got hacked and the data was replaced.
