I forgot that @invite would then be the active channel. Just do a regular invite to a nickname while in a channel, then look in the window.

$chan(1) instead of $active should work

When someone invites you the "on invite" event is triggered. When you are the inviter and an error occured (missing parameter, invalid channel, not enough privileges, invalid nick) or the invitation was successful, you get a raw numeric back.
