Please make the $mk*fn identifiers remove ONLY illegal characters from strings.
e.g.: ^blah^ is a valid filename, and so is _blah_, but they both end up the same - "_blah_". :tongue:

Agreed, the current $mk* idents cause too many conflicts.

Very interesting:

The only characters the $mk* identifiers remove are " * / : < > ? \ ^ |
A filename cannot contain any of the following characters \ / : * ? " < > |
(quotith the error message)

I can't say I'm sure why it removes ^ .
Do INI files have any trouble handling ^ ?
