Please make the $mk*fn identifiers remove ONLY illegal characters from strings. e.g.: ^blah^ is a valid filename, and so is _blah_, but they both end up the same - "_blah_".
The only characters the $mk* identifiers remove are " * / : < > ? \ ^ | A filename cannot contain any of the following characters \ / : * ? " < > | (quotith the error message)
I can't say I'm sure why it removes ^ . Do INI files have any trouble handling ^ ?

Well. At least I won lunch. Good philosophy, see good in bad, I like!
